ERIC CHRISTENSEN ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR SANTA ROSA CITY COUNCIL

Santa Rosa, CA – Longtime Santa Rosa resident and small business owner Eric Christensen announced today his candidacy for Santa Rosa City Council, seeking to represent the City’s newly-formed 7th City Council District, encompassing southwestern Santa Rosa including Santa Rosa city limits to the west, Stony Point Road to the east, Guerneville Road to the north and the Bellevue Ranch/Corporate Center Parkway areas to the south.

Christensen founded and has operated Factory VFX, Inc. since 2006, a small business off Corporate Center Parkway that specializes in visual effects for the motion picture, commercial and television industry.  Prior to starting his own company, he worked for George Lucas’ Industrial Light + Magic (ILM) company, where he worked on visual effects in films such as Harry Potter, Star Wars II and III, and Jurassic Park III, among other films.  Christensen’s extensive experience managing personnel, payroll and a budget were traits he noted are of critical importance in the years ahead as Santa Rosa grapples with significant budgetary, homelessness and affordable housing issues, along with a myriad array of other important community and cultural issues.

“As someone who’s lived in Sonoma County for nearly 50 years, including nearly 15 years owning and operating a small business in the 7th District, I have seen firsthand the changes and challenges that have impacted our community’s quality-of-life,” Christensen said upon announcing his candidacy.  “As someone who’s lived here for most of my life and witnessed change for better and worse, I offer a unique perspective as someone who’s seen our community evolve and is experienced in business; using that knowledge base, I want to provide the leadership we need to move Santa Rosa forward and address some of the systemic, ongoing struggles our city faces,” Christensen added.  “I look forward to leveraging my past experiences as both a UFCW and IATSE employee to my current position as a small business owner for positive change and engage with citizens of all backgrounds and walks of life to understand their concerns while listening to their ideas on how to make Santa Rosa a better place to live, work, raise a family and retire.”

Eric graduated from Santa Rosa Junior College before receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree from San Francisco State University. He and his wife, Christal, have been married and living in the 7th District for nearly 20 years with their two teenage children: Clayton, who recently graduated and is headed to college, and Madelyn, who attends a local public high school.
